Rocks that gave birth to legend
続石
A massive boukder 7m wide, 5m deep, and 2m thick, sits stop two smaller stone pedestals. The stones are so large that a person can pass between the two pedestales. No one knows whether this is a natural formation or manmade construction. Legend has it that the stones were set up by Benkei, a famous Buddhist priest from 1000 years ago who was renowned for his strength Nearby you can also find the Makuraishi(Pillow Stone), allegedly used by Benkei as pillow, and the Nakiishi(Crying Rock), which is said to shed tears.
Access From the Tono station to about 10km
It is a car and they are 15 minutes, and on foot 10 minutes.
