The Nambu Magariya (Nambu Bent House) is a type of farmhouse famous for its unique construction. The residence (main house) is connected to the horse barn, and seen form above,the building has an L shape. They were constructed in this way to allow warmth from the house to spread to the horse barn and to make it easier for people to watch their horses.The Chiba Family Magariya was constructed nearly 200 years ago. It is one of the large-scale types of Nambu Magariya.According to records,a total of 25 people, including family and servants, lived in the house with 20 horses.
